Historiographie zwischen Inspiration und rhetorischer Produktion in Rudolfs von Ems „Weltchronik“

Der Beitrag diskutiert die Autorentwürfe in Rudolfs von Ems „Weltchronik“. Die häufig problematisierte Überblendung von Schöpfungshandeln und Textproduktion wird als ein anspielungsrhetorischer Effekt rekonstruiert. Es wird die These entwickelt, dass der spannungsreichen rhetorischen Anlage des Prologs insgesamt ein profanes Verständnis von Autorschaft unterlegt ist, das unterschiedliche Lektüre-Angebote zur Wahl stellt.

This article discusses the authorial drafts in Rudolf von Ems’s “World Chronicle”. The frequently problematised blending of creative action and text production is reconstructed as an effect of rhetorical allusion. The article develops the theory that the tense rhetorical system of the prologue as a whole is underpinned by a secular understanding of authorship which allows the reader to choose between a number of different readings.
